Jordan M. Hasay
Born September 21, 1991
Jogging with Mom at age 4, Jordan gradually built a running base that sustains her today. First noticed by her Middle School Track Coach, Jordan began competing and winning Middle School track meets while in 4th Grade.
Joining the San Luis Distance Club Youth Running Program while a 7th Grader, Jordan quickly began her rise to National attention. During the summer of 2004, Jordan set National Jr. Olympic Youth and Age Group records in the 1500m 4:34.02, 3000m 9:48.77 and Age 12 Road 5K National record at 17:06. She continued to shine during Cross Country with an Age 13 Road 5K National record at 16:49, winning the Foot Locker Western Regional Middle School Cross Country Championships and the USATF National Jr. Olympic Youth Cross Country Championships and named Athlete of the Week by USA Track & Field on Dec. 14, 2004. Still only an 8th Grader, Jordan finished off her Middle School years recording a World Record Age 13 One Mile in 4:51.48 and breaking her own National Jr. Olympic Youth records in the 1500m 4:28.61 and 3000m 9:35.12.
Her first year as a Prep proved just as productive with a Foot Locker Western Region win and National 2005 Foot Locker High School Cross Country Championships win as a Freshman. In the 2006 Prep Track season, Jordan has set a National Freshman and USA Age 14 record in the 3000m 9:26.32, National Freshman and Youth age 14 3200m record of 10:07.56, 2006 California State CIF 3200m title, National Freshman Mile of 4:42.21 and USATF Jr. National Women's 3000m Champion.
In 2007, Jordan showed continued strength capturing the Foot Locker Western Region Championship for the second year, a 10th place finish at the National Foot Locker High School Championships and USA Cross Country National Jr. Women's 6K title. This qualified Jordan for the 2007 IAAF World Cross Country Championships in Mombasa, Kenya. Having to for go the trip to Mombasa due to terrorist threats, Jordan turned her attention to Prep Track. Having run a number of key races, including a National Federation High School 1600m record of 4:39.13, Jordan finished her Sophomore year with a second California CIF 3200m title and Sophomore and USA Youth age 15 record of 10:04.07. A Sophomore 2 mile record of 10:07.65 and nominated as the Track & Field News Best High School Miler and 2 Miler for 2007. During the post-season, Jordan continued to shine with a win at the USATF Jr. Nationals running 4:16.98 1500m that was a meet, Sophmore, and USA Age 15 National record and met the "B" standard for the USA Track & Field Olympic Trials to be held in Eugene Oregon in 2008. This placed Jordan 4th on the All-Time High School 1500m list. Having qualified for the 5th IAAF World Youth Championships held in Ostrava in the Czech Republic, Jordan represented the USA in the Woman's 1500m. Here she placed a mark on the International stage with a 2nd place finish over runners from Kenya, Ethiopia, China, and Japan to name a few.
During her Junior year in Cross Country, Jordan set a number of course records and was named USA Track & Field athlete of the week Oct. 23, 2007. Jordan also had her third straight win at the Footlocker Western Region Cross Country Championships, place 3rd at the Foot Locker National High School Cross Country Championships and second win in the USATF National Junior Cross Country Championships. During the 2008 track season, Jordan ran a Junior 3000m record of 9:19.6 and captured her third California CIF State 3200m championship in 9:52.13 (second fastest High School of all-time), which was also a Junior and USA age 16 record. Jordan also won the USATF Junior Track & Field National 1500m title in 4:18.44. After running and qualifying in the quarter and semi-finals, Jordan ran the USA Olympic Trails 1500m Finals placing 10th and setting a National High School, Junior and USA age 16 record of 4:14.50. Jordan then immediately flew to Poland for the World Junior Track and Field Championships and placed 4th in the 1500m Finals after running more pre-liminary rounds.
Now age 17, Jordan entered her Senior Cross Country Season. Here, Jordan won her fourth consecutive CIF Division 5 California State Championship, fouth consecutive Foot Locker Western Region Cross Country Championship and reclaimed the Foot Locker National High School Championship for the second time. During the 2009 Prep track season, Jordan ran undefeated with an 800m PR of 2:09.64; National High School leading times of 4:16.80 for the 1500m; 4:42.63c for the 1600m and culminating in a first time ever as a fourth consecutive 3200m California State Champion in a National leading time of 10:05.29. Running the USA Track & Field National Women's 1500m, Jordan Placed 10th and then ran the Jr. National Track & Field 1500m to claim her third Jr. National 1500m Championship. Jordan topped off her final season as a Prep before heading off to the University of Oregon with a 2009 Pan American Junior Athletics Championships win in the Women's 1500m.
As a UO Freshman, Jordan placed 3rd at the PAC-10 Conference Championships covering the 6K course in 19:48. At the NCAA West Regional Championships, Jordan placed 2nd in 20:52. To complete her first Cross Country season as a "Duck", Jordan ran to 18th place at the NCAA Championships in 20:23 as UO first finisher and earning her first Collegiate All-American Award. Jordan was selected as the PAC-10 Women's Newcomer of the Year and named a member of the First Team.Stay tuned.
