Savannah Camacho begain her training with the San Luis Distance Club Youth Program as a seventh grader in 2007 and quickly found her talent for running. During Savannah's first regular season, she ran undefeated and claimed the USATF Region 14 Track & Field Jr Olympic Youth 800m Championship in 2:18.59. From there, Savannah advanced to the USATF National Jr. Olympic Track & Field Championships to take 7th place in the Youth 800m in 2:19.02 after setting her PR in the Semi-Final heats of 2:17.40. This was Savannah's first season and already a USATF Jr. Olympic All-American. During her Cross Country season as an eighth grader, Savannah ran well and qulified to advance to the USATF National Jr Olympic Cross Country Championships. Opting out, Savannah concentrated on her up-coming 2008 track season. As an 8th Grader, Savannah once again was undefeated during the regular season and once again she was a standout at the Jr. Olympic level. Savannah claimed her second Youth 800m Championship in 2:15.66 and first Youth 1500m Championship in 4:52.22 at the USATF Region 14 Jr. Olympic Track & Field Championships. Moving on to the USATF National Jr Olympic Track & Field Championships, Savannah showed her strength by running both the Youth 800m and 1500m events which meant a Semi-Final for both to advance to the Finals. Savannah ran this incredibly difficult double to place 3rd in the Youth 800m in a PR time of 2:15.54 and placed 4th in the Youth 1500m in another PR of 4:45.20 and earn her second USATF Jr. Olympic All-American status. The National Elite Youth Ranking System placed Savannah 6th in the 800m and 7th in the 1500m for 2008.
Savannah's first Prep Cross Country Season in 2008 end with a League Championship. During Savannah's Prep 2009 track season, she won her League 800m and 1600m titles and went on to run the many qualifying meets to qualify for the CIF California State 1600m. Along the way, Savannah claimed the CIF Division IV 1600m Title and then ran an 800m PR of 2:13.66 an hour later at the CIF Southern Section Divisional Finals. As a Freshman at the California State Championships, Savannah ran a PR 1600m of 4:51.57 in the qualifying rounds and placed 9th in the Finals the next day. Savannah finished her season ranked 8th in 1600m in California and 23rd in the Nation.
For her Sophomore year in 2009, Savannah once again won her League Cross Country Championships and qualified for the CIF State Cross Country Championships where she placed 21st in Division IV. Savannah extended her Cross Country season by qualifying and competing in the 2009 USATF National Jr. Olympic Cross Country Championships held in Reno, Nv. Savannah placed 18th out of 134 in the Intermediate age division picking up one of the top 25 medals and earning USATF Jr. Olympic All-American. The 2010 track season proved to be a break-through for Savannah. Once again she won both the 800m and 1600m League Championships and once again qualified for the California State Championships picking up a CIF Southern Section Division IV 800m title along the way. This year Savannah qualified with PR's in both the 800m in 2:09.70 and 1600m in 4:49.84. Opting out of the 1600m in favor of the 800m, Savannah ran the California State 800m Finals in a fantastic PR of 2:07.73. Savannah's final ranking for 2010 was 2nd in California and 5th in the Nation for the 800m and 6th in California and 19th in the Nation for the 1600m making the National Dyestat Elite list in both events and Track & Field News 2010 High School Comprehensive (Top 10) List.
Savannah's Junior year proved to be a growth year in which improvements were small but consistant. During Cross Country, Savannah started out her season winning her first five races. For the third consecutive year, she won her League Cross Country Championship, placed 6th in the CIF Southern Section Final and went on to the CIF State Cross Country Championship to place 37th in Division IV. During the 2011 Track season, Savannah started out early season with a win and meet record in the 800m of 2:16.91 at the California State Indoor Meet on their 145m track. She then posted a National leading 800m time in early April at the prestigeous Arcadia Invitational of 2:08.30. Savannah won her League 800m and 1600m events for the third year and picked up a CIF Southern Section Division IV 800m Championship and runner up in the 1600m with a season best of 4:51.15 on her way to State. At the CIF State Meet, Savannah once again placed 2nd in the 800m at 2:07.84. Continuing her season, Savannah qualified for the Womens 800m at the USA Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Or. where she placed 4th in the Finals in a PR of 2:07.62 with USA Junior All-American status. Savannah was the youngest competitor in the field and was first alternate for the Pan Am Junior Track & Field Championships. This placed Savannah 2nd in California and a National ranking of 9th on the Track & Field News 2011 High School Comprehensive (Top 10) List. It also placed Savannah 26th on the Dyestat California All-Time 800m List . Stay Tuned.
Talley Hill first approached joining the San Luis Distance Club Youth Program when she was 6 years old. She had been running with her father and competing in all-comer track meets and local fun runs. It was decided that she wait another year and joined the Team in 2007 at 7 years old and 3rd grader. Talley's first season was in Cross Country and showed her competitive nature placing well in local youth cross country meets. Running in the Sub-Bantam Age Group, Talley had to compete with the Bantam Age Group in order to qualify to run the USATF Jr. Olympic circuit. Talley qualified to run the USATF Region 14 Jr. Olympic Cross Country Championships where she placed 11th in the Bantam Age Group to advance to the USATF National Jr. Olympic Cross Country Championships. It was decided to concentrate on the 2008 track season. During the track season, Talley competed well in local youth meets and this carried over into the USATF Jr. Olympic meets. Now running in the Bantam Age Group, Talley placed 3rd in the 1500m running a PR of 5:22.11 at the USATF Region 14 Jr Olympic Track & Field Championships to qualify for the 2008 USATF National Jr. Olympic Track & Field Championships. Here Talley excelled to take 3rd place in 5:22.71 and achieve USATF Jr. Olympic All-American status. Talley was ranked 15th in the Bantam Girls 1500m by the National Elite Youth Ranking System for 2008. During Talley's second cross country season, she once again showed competitive toughness to place 3rd in the Bantam Age Group at the USATF Region 14 Jr Olympic Cross Country Championships to once again qualify for the USATF National Jr Olympic Cross Country Championships. It was decided again to concentrate on the 2009 track season. During the 2009 track season, Talley continued to improve placing 2nd in the 800m and 1500m at both the USATF Pacific Association and Region 14 Jr. Olympic Championships. Qualifying for the USATF National Jr Olympics, Talley ran the 1500m to place 14th in the Bantam age group. Talley's PR's for the season were 2:35.63 for the 800m and 5:20.40 for the 1500m which placed her 17th and 14th respectively on the National Elite Youth Ranking System as All-American in both events for 2009. During Cross Country, Talley set several course records in her 9-11 age group and a 20:00.0 PR 5K and topped her season by qualifying and running the 2009 USATF National Jr. Oympic Cross Country Championships in Reno, Nv. Here, Talley placed 29th out of 198 in the Bantam age group.
In 2010, Talley moved up into the Midget age group (10-11yr). Track turned out to be a break-thourgh season for Talley as she posted PR's from 200m to 3000m and set Meet records for her age and/or broke SLDC Youth records at every meet attended. Talley posted a PR of 2:27.92 for the 800m which was 37th in the Nation and 4:59.36 for the 1500m which was ranked 12th in the Nation by the National Elite Youth Ranking System and earned their All-American status. Talley tried her hand at the 3000m for the first time and quickly improved to place 5th in the Midgets Girls 3000m in a PR of 10:55.42 at the 2010 USATF National Jr. Olympic Track & Field Championships held in Sacramento, Ca. This earnd Talley a top eight medal and USATF Jr. Olympic All-American as well as ranked 16th by the National Elite Youth Ranking System and given their All-American status.
Still in the Midget Age Group during the 2011 Track season, Talley had overwhelming improvement. Once again, Talley set a 'Roo Rat 6th Grade record in every meet and set meet age group records. Talley started her track season with an Indoor Meet to win in the 800m in 2:38.38 and 2nd in the mile at 5:39.63. By the end of the season, Talley was the USATF Pacific Association Youth Track & Field Championships 800m and 1500m Champion, USATF Pacific Association Jr. Olympic 1500m Champion and USATF Region 14 Jr. Olympic 800m Champion and runner up in the 3000m. Advancing to the USATF National Jr. Olympic Track & Field Championships, Talley ran in 105 degree heat to place 8th in the 1500m and earn another USATF Jr. Olympic All-American honor. Talley's final best times for the season were 2:23.27 for 800m; 4:56.78 for 1500m and 11:11.63 for 3000 meters. These times ranked Talley 12th in the 800m and 5th in the 1500m for All-American with the National Elite Youth Ranking System and 22nd and National Elite Youth Honor Roll for the 3000m. Stay Tuned.
Nathan Baldwin joined the San Luis Distance Club Youth Program late in the track season of 2006 as a 7th grader. He then ran the following Cross Country season as an 8th grader. Nathan's summer training paid off with steady improvement and a 12th place finish at the USATF Region 14 Jr Olympic Cross Country Championships to qualify for the USATF National Jr Olympic Cross Country Championships. Here Nathan placed 115th in the Youth Age Group. During the 2007 track season, Nathan continued to improve culminating in a PR 1500m of 4:32.55 and second place finish in the Youth 3000m at 10:03.09 at the USATF Region 14 Jr Olympic Track & Field Championships. This qualified Nathan to advance to the USATF National Jr Olympic Track & Field Championships where he placed 13th in the 3000m at 10:12.76. These times ranked Nathan 38th in the Youth 1500m and 53rd in the 3000m and on the Honor Roll in both events with the National Elite Youth Ranking System for 2007. Nathan entered High School to run well and decided to continue his post season by representing the San Luis Distance Club Youth Team by placing 5th at the USATF Region 14 Jr Olympic Cross Country Championships. Determined to pursue his dream, Nathan ran the 2007 USATF National Jr Olympic Cross Country Championships in the Youth Age Group and placed 25th out 287 to earn USATF Jr. Olympic All-American status.
Sydne Aguilar joined the San Luis Distance Club Youth Program in the early part of cross country season in 2005 as a 4th grader after placing 2nd at the Fairbanks Youth Cross Country Festival, her first race ever run. Her determination and hard work ethic is the driving force that has inspried team mates and given her many accomplishments. Sydne, only a Bantam, placed 14th at the USATF Region 14 Jr Olympic Cross Country Championships to qualify for the USATF National Jr Olympic Cross Country Championships. Still new to running, it was decided to concentrate on the 2006 track season. Still a Bantam, Sydne showed steady improvement by placing 4th in the USATF Region 14 Track & Field Championships 1500m in 5:56.83 ranking her 121st with the National Elite Youth Ranking System for 2006. During the 2006 cross country season, Sydne began to gain confidence and strength to place 5th at the USATF Region 14 Jr Olympic Cross Country Championships to qualify for the USATF National Jr Olympic Cross Country Championships where she placed 32nd overall. Sydne changed to the Midget age group for the 2007 track season and experienced growth spurt injuries which kept her out of the USATF championships meets, but not before running a 1500m time of 5:39.90 which ranked her 221st in the National Elite Youth Ranking System for 2007. In addition, Sydne ran a 3000m time of 12:23.00 which ranked her 147th with the National Elite Youth Ranking System for 2007. During the 2007 cross country season, Sydne once again ran well to place 16th at the USATF Region 14 Jr Olympic Cross Country Championships to qualify for the USATF National Jr. Olympic Cross Country Championships in which she placed 130th. Still in the Midget age group, Sydne ran the 2008 track season and drastically dropped her times. Sydne ran a 1500m best of 5:29.83 which ranked her 121st with the National Elite Youth Ranking System for 2008 and a 3000m best of 11:33.84 which ranked her 47th and on the Honor Roll with the National Elite Youth Ranking System for 2008. As of March 2009, Sydne holds no less than 16 'Roo Rat Track & Field and Cross Country records. When not running, Sydne swims for the San Luis Obispo Seahawks. She has been swimming since she was 7 years old and qualified for the Central California Junior Olympics every year in both short course and long course seasons since she was age 8. Sydne has competed in six youth triathlons and numerous local aquathlons. She has won the Scott Tinley Youth Road Triathlon and placed 6th at the Silicon Valley Youth Triathlon in 2008. Sydne also has participated in the Junior Lifeguard Program for the past three summers in Avila Beach. To top it off, Sydne is a straight A student. It is her dedication, resilience, love of competition, humbleness and time management skills that makes Sydne Aguilar a 'Roo Rat in Excellence.
